The Least Equal Country

Hello! Yesterday I talked about the countries which has the most eqaul right for both sex in the world. To compare, today I would like to talk about the least equal countries int he world. This referes to the question No.26 "Which is the least equal country and why?"

Q. Which is the least equal country and why?

A. I would like to answer the least five countries and the reasons.

No.1 Saudi Arabia
The strict Sharia law is being used in Saudi Arabia which makes the nation strict against woman. Woman are under male guardians known as "mahrams" , and by this woman is not allowed to go shopping or even doctor's appointment without permission. In 2015, woman got the right to vote but they still don't have all the same right as man.

No.2 South Korea
South Korea has a little bit different reason to be in the top. Other countries' reasons were mainly related to religion but South Korea has the problem in economy. In South Korea, female workers earn a third less than the male worker. Because of this, 20 to 25 young woman works but many shifts to part-time employment in later year. When Park Geunhye had become the first female president in 2013, she promised to make the environment of child care better and develop the female management program, and it seemed to do something to make it better but since she has been arrested we don't know if it will improve in the future.

No.3 Algeria
Women hold about the third of parliamentary seats in Algeria, and had improved the inequality. But still, female employment is not much in industry because there are stereotype thought and workplace discrimination against woman left.

No.4 Jordan
In Jordan, woman don't have equal economic opportunity or participation. Woman has the score of 20 percent unemployment which is the double of man. There is a woman named
Queen Rania Al Abdullah who won a prize for acting and speaking out for woman's empowerment in Jordan and aboard. In the recent election in 2012, 15 seats out of 225 seats were given to woman so the situation is getting better little by little.

No.5 Iran
Iran is one of the country which didn't sign to the United Nation's Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women, which has the aim to protect the rights of woman all around the world.

As a conclusion, most of the top countries (about until the 20th) were in the middle east or in Africa, which means there religion is Islam. In this year, woman in Saudi Arabia got the right to drive a car which was a big surprise for me because when I used to live there it was prohibited and my image was worst about the gender equality.

I hope some day, there will be a world when all human being has the same right whether which gender they are.
